UGA football junior tight end Brock Bowers will have surgery on his injured ankle, the school confirmed on Monday.

Brock injured his ankle during the first half of Saturday’s game against the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville, Tenn. The Bulldogs went on to win the game, 37-20.

A statement from UGA to UGASports.com confirmed that Bowers is set for tightrope surgery.

“Brock Bowers sustained a high ankle sprain during the Vanderbilt game in Nashville over the weekend. Surgery will be performed today (Oct. 16) to stabilize the ankle and a full recovery is anticipated.”

According to ESPN, Bowers is expected to miss four-to-six weeks as a result of the surgery. Four weeks would set his return for the game at Tennessee on Nov. 18, while six weeks would see his return in the SEC Championship should the Bulldogs appear in that game.

With Bowers out, Georgia’s tight end duties will fall to sophomore Oscar Delp. True freshmen Lawson Luckie and Pearce Spurlin III should also see some snaps.

The Bulldogs’ next game is on Saturday, Oct. 28 against the Florida Gators at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. The game will be televised by CBS at 3:30pm ET (Buy Tickets).
